Lionel Messi Makes Huge Shift about His Future

December 23, 2022

Lionel Messi has apparently made a big decision about his future and changed his plans.

The 35-year-old has now won everything in the game, lifting the World Cup at the weekend and rounding out the trophy with the Ballon d’Or. Not only did Messi answer critics about claims that he slowed down and declined with age, he also put on a magical display in Qatar, leading Argentina to glory.

While his longtime parallel Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be struggling to find a new club at the age of 37, Flea has no such worries.

Messi came close to agreeing to leave Europe for Major League Soccer, but he reneged on that ambition, at least for now.

That’s according to Le Parisien, who said the Argentina captain will remain in Paris for another season at PSG.

Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2021 in a dramatic transfer window in which he seemed certain to renew his Barcelona contract. Originally signed on a two-year deal, some say he fell short of the extraordinary heights he achieved in Catalonia – despite winning the Ballon d’Or last year.

David Beckham’s Miami side offered Messi a way out of European competition, but with the World Cup showing that attackers can turn their backs, perhaps he has been persuaded to stay longer at the top level.

Transfermarkt values Messi at around 50 million euros.
